KAUFMAN, Texas (Reuters) - Texans will honor on Thursday slain prosecutor Mike McLelland and his wife, who were shot dead in their home over the weekend in an unsolved crime that has shocked this community on the outskirts of Dallas.
Kaufman County government offices were shut for the public memorial service for McLelland, the 63-year-old county district attorney who was found gunned down with his wife, Cynthia, on Saturday.
Investigators have not yet identified any suspects in the execution-style killings, which came two months after a key deputy of McLelland was also shot and killed.
Texas Governor Rick Perry, who was expected to attend the service, said at a news conference that authorities were "exhausting every line of inquiry in a relentless pursuit of those responsible for these heinous crimes."
He also offered a reward of up to $100,000 for information leading to the capture of the killers.
The public memorial service was set for 1 p.m. local time at the First Baptist Church of Sunnyvale near Kaufman.
The slain couple's funeral was to be held on Friday at First Baptist Church in Wortham, the town 75 miles south of Dallas where McLelland grew up.
